Carlos Páez Vilaró born in Montevideo, Uruguay , on 1 November 1923 .
Marked by a strong artistic vocation started in his youth to Buenos Aires , where he joined the middle of the graphic arts as an apprentice typesetter in barracks and Avellaneda. Upon his return to Uruguay in the 40s , motivated by the issue of candombe and East African troupe and linking closely to the life of the tenement ” Mediomundo ” falls squarely to manifest in the field of art .





With unbridled passion , Paez Vilaró surrendered completely to the subject , painting dozens of cartons , composing candombes for lubolas troupes , directing choirs , decorating their drums or acting as an incentive folklore at that time imposed struggled against misunderstanding .(Spanish Uruguay)
